The 2nd International Halliday Forum on Journalistic Discourse 22 January 2024

The 2nd International Halliday Forum was organised by the Halliday Centre for Intelligent Applications for Language Studies (HCLS) at City University of Hong Kong.

The conference was held on January 22nd 2024, from 15:00 - 20:00 (07:00 – 12:00 GMT; 08:00 - 13:00 CET) in LI5409.

Theme:
The theme of the Second International Halliday Forum on Journalistic Discourse is the examination and analysis of various aspects of media and journalistic discourse. The conference features presentations and discussions on topics such as the detection and computation of audience response, media representation and crisis management, semantic categories of metadiscursive nouns in media discourse, a taxonomy of discourse types, the application of social network theory to media discourse, and the differences in engagement strategies between British and Chinese media discourse. The event brought together scholars and researchers from various institutions to explore contemporary developments and issues in the field of journalistic and media discourse.
